Employee Security Cheat Sheet
Four habits for safer everyday work: protect accounts, verify unusual requests, keep systems current, and report quickly.
Before you click
- Pause on unexpected urgency or pressure.
- Check the sender and destination, not just the display name or logo.
- For sensitive requests, verify through a known channel.
- Do not sign in through an unexpected link if you can navigate to the service directly.
Before you approve
- Never approve an MFA prompt you did not initiate.
- Be suspicious of repeated prompts or support calls asking you to approve one.
- Use phishing-resistant MFA where your organization provides it.
Before you share
- Confirm the recipient and the sensitivity of the information.
- Do not send passwords or authentication codes through chat or email.
- Do not paste restricted company or customer data into unapproved AI tools.
If something feels wrong
- Report it immediately—even if you already clicked.
- Do not hide mistakes; early reporting can limit impact.
- For suspected malware, follow your organization’s incident procedure rather than improvising.
